Official 13th NM Tap Dance Jam Announcement

Albuquerque, New Mexico—National Dance Institute of New Mexico and the University of New Mexico Department of Theatre and Dance present the 13th Annual New Mexico Tap Dance Jam on Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th, 2011. Guest artist, Bril Barrett of Chicago Illinois will be teaching master classes at the week long workshop preceding the show and then performing along with other teachers, students and companies from the Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas. One of these includes the New Mexico Rhythm Tap Ensemble, together with NDI-NM’s Albuquerque Artistic Director Jackie Oliver, for an evening of rhythmic and percussive dance. Barrett is the founder of M.A.D.D. (Making A Difference Dancing) Rhythms, director of The Chicago Tap Summit and founder of The M.A.D.D. Rhythms Tap Academy.

The 13th Annual New Mexico Tap Dance Jam will be presented at Keller Hall, Center for the Arts, University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Performances are at 7:30pm on Friday June 10th and Saturday June 11th. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students/seniors. For tickets, please call (505) 925-5858 or visit www.unmtickets.com. Founded in 1994, National Dance Institute of New Mexico reaches 6,100 underserved children from kindergarten through high school annually through the state.
